But many people use the official “loopholes” and migrate through the registration of a company in the Czech Republic or through marriage to Czech citizens. Czech Republic also takes a number of refugees, but this way is much more difficult to implement. And every day the way to the Czech citizenship becomes harder and harder for the ones who dream of a better life. It is said that the law about obtaining a permanent residence in the Czech Republic is going to tighten. First of all it applies mixed marriages and refugees.
A bill is already approved by the MPs and it is only to receive the approval of the Czech Senate and the president. Despite the fact that the public association of the Czech Republic and the opposition are voicing their displeasure about this project, especially about the changes concerning mixed marriages, everything points to the fact that the law will be adopted and implemented as soon as possible.
Regarding the practical changes that would entail the bill, those who want to get the Czech citizenship through marriage agencies and dreams of a Czech husband and wife, they will be affected first. Anon the foreign wives and husbands will not get Czech citizenship immediately after the marriage, but only after two years of residence in the Czech Republic under the registration certificate. Of course, the divorce will be the reason for denial of citizenship and thus the number of emigrants, especially from the CIS, will significantly decrease.
Regarding refugees, the bill also does not promise any indulgences. Those foreigners who had sought asylum at the airport may be delayed for up to 4 months (or more precisely, 120 days) and can be defined in a special camp for refugees. Of course, we are not talking about any equal rights with citizens of the Czech Republic. And finally, something that applies to all the immigrants. Once the bill is finally approved, all they will have to pass on the test for knowledge of the Czech language, otherwise it will be impossible to get the permanent residence.
Thanks to the proximity of the Czech and Russian languages, the inhabitants of the CIS are not to have serious problems with that, but the inhabitants of distant countries will have to do all their best to get the Czech citizenship.
